Multi-orbit support with transparent and regenerative deployment modes

Low Earth Orbit

500–2,000 km altitude. Low latency, high Doppler shift compensation. Optimized for dynamic satellite tracking.

MEO

Medium Earth Orbit

2,000–35,786 km altitude. Balanced coverage and latency. Adaptive timing advance for orbital variations.

GEO

Geostationary Orbit

35,786 km altitude. Wide coverage footprint, stable link conditions. Extended propagation delay handling.

Transparent

Transparent mode

eNodeB runs exclusively on ground station. Satellite acts as RF repeater with frequency translation. Simpler satellite payload, centralized network control.

Regenerative

Regenerative mode — Satellite segment

eNodeB protocol stack runs on-board the satellite. Performs demodulation, decoding, MAC scheduling, and re-encoding. Reduces latency and enables autonomous cell operation.

Regenerative

Regenerative mode — Ground segment

Ground station hosts higher-layer network functions and interfaces to core network. Coordinates with on-board eNodeB via feeder link for mobility management and handovers.
